Celebrating 25 years in the freight forwarding and 3PL industry

Blacksmith Freight services is pleased to be celebrating its 25th year in the freight forwarding and 3PL industry.

Founded by Roger Black in 1998, Blacksmith Freight has enjoyed significant growth over the last 25 years, and is now recognised as one of the leading 3PL and freight forwarders serving local and international clients.

Starting with a focus on freight forwarding, the business has since evolved into a full-service logistics provider, offering 3PL and warehousing solutions to clients across the globe. This growth and expansion into new areas is due to our commitment to providing clients with cost-effective and efficient logistic solutions and a personal service that sets us apart in the industry.

In 2011, we opened a Heathrow Airport office which has since moved to larger premises to accommodate further growth, and we are now the largest independent freight forwarder at Manchester Airport World Freight Terminal.

More recently, we acquired a 33,000 sq. ft. warehouse at Manchester Freight Terminal which offers excellent connectivity, storage and distribution facilities for clients and the business has since expanded its sales team to service new and existing clients.

We now employ approximately 50 people operating across two UK offices at Manchester Airport Freight Terminal and Heathrow Airport.

Roger Black, Group CEO commented: “We are proud of everything we have achieved over the last 25 years. We have successfully navigated many business challenges that have arisen over the past two decades, from recessions, the pandemic, fuel shortages, volcanic ash, regularity requirements and Brexit. It is a testament to our teams’ truly outstanding approach that we have continued to grow through all of it.”

With no signs of slowing down, we stand ready to support our customers’ global supply chain requirements and we are dedicated to making a difference in the fast-paced world of logistics.
