We’re delighted to welcome Joanne Johnston to the Blacksmith Freight team, who joined us in December 2025 as our Part-Time Admin Assistant.
Before joining us, Joanne enjoyed a diverse career in the oil and energy industries, including several years at Shell U.K. in Wythenshawe and a period with a wind turbine company in Warrington, where she gained extensive experience in scheduling, team coordination, and purchase order management.
After taking a career break to raise her three children, Joanne transitioned into education, working in a variety of roles within schools. This included classroom support, mid-day supervision, and even running the school cross country team — a role she remains passionate about and continues on the days she is not at Blacksmith Freight.
Outside of work, Joanne is a dedicated runner, having completed over 15 full marathons, several half marathons, and 10k events — including one marathon halfway through pregnancy! Running is both a passion and a stress reliever, offering fitness, community, and a chance to enjoy the outdoors with family.
Fun fact: Joanne is also a self-proclaimed Percy Pig enthusiast, with a collection of toys, accessories, and even a tattoo — and you’ll often find a bag of Percy Pig sweets keeping her fuelled on long runs!
